Thank you Cubizz

To thank the people who were responsible for our company trip to Dubai, the rest of the crew put together this nicely framed picture. It’s made by one of our Art Directors using a Mac and it’s based on 842 individual images, selected from approx. 2.000 images total.

You create a base image with the CUBIZZ text and the dark edges and then you pretty much just telle this engine to browse your images and put it all together- cool right!? So when you stand close, you won’t see the CUBIZZ text unless you move back a bit… I”m already getting ready for my next framed picture at home! :)

If you haven’t already: Visit Dubai!

I just returned from Dubai (UAE) where I spend 4 days together with my company for pure relaxation and fun of course! We slept in the dessert, drove Quad bikes and sand boards, raced jeeps through the dunes, visited Buddha Bar for food and cocktails, chilled a whole lot at the pool and attended beach parties in the city - yes beach party in the city! :)

In other words; we had a blast and we did wearing just shorts, t-shirt and sunglasses. So if you have the “time” and don’t feel offended by this capitalistic world, GO GO GO!

This is just too cool to miss out on - eventhough it’s “just” a screensaver!

Aug 21st 1982 - first comments on Microsoft Windows.

I just stumbled upon this excellent and extremely nostalgic website which basically is an archieve of one of the first web 2.0 communitites dated 1979: Usenet. The archieve (however incomplete) is hosted at Google Groups and the threads from this old forum deals with first versions of MS-DOS, Apple’s Lisa and Macintosh, first comments on Commodore 64 and Windows as well as first mentions on compact discs and much more fun stuff.

Let me just give you an example of how we perceived this new technological world with a few lines from a post by Doug:

”- it comes with 64K of memory standard
- in highest graphics resolution it has 320 X 200 pixels
- it uses the same Microsoft BASIC as the PET. They say they will have Pascal for it soon”.

This clearly demonstrates how very new and exiting the personal computer were back in 82’ - pretty darn funny!

Quote by Peter Rowley:
“When run on the Hyperion, MS-Windows will extend the function of the MS-DOS operating system to include management of bit-mapped screen graphics and a mouse cursor control device. MS-Windows will enable the user to view unrelated applications programs simultaneously, allowing data transfer from one application program to another.”

Save The Developers!

It’s geeky, but it’s also a clear invitation to upgrade you browser from IE6 to a newer version and make life a bit easier for all of us, constantly working and striving to create compatible websites and applications. With IE6 covering more than 30% of the worlds browser, it’s definitely time to move on, now with IE 8 BETA available. However, this group of highly geeky programmers encourages all IE6 users to upgrade to at least IE7, which today covers about 22 % worldwide. in comparison, Firefox has its share of approx. 36 %.

Music For Airports (NYC-PDX)

This video poem tells a fantastic story of a journey from NYC-PDX (Portland). I posted it here primarily because of the mood and vibe this video creates with ease, but also because of the greatly underlying music by Brian Eno…

Big enough for you?

Even though my 31st birthday was on Saturday, this is what met me today at work! Our beautiful girls in the kitchen had taken on the challenge of making an 8-layered birthday cake for me and the rest of the company. Pretty darn amazing and pretty darn good too and by the end of the day, the cake was almost much gone. I guess you could say the layers had been flattened (thank you Mad Dog for that sharp notion)

See you in Barcelona!

The hotel is booked including breakfast and balcony right in the Gothic quarter. Also, my friend and I were so “lucky” to get an awesome deal on some tickets from Copenhagen to Barcelona for no money at all - and it’s a direct flight, so we are mentally preparing for a whole week of summer, suntans, sunshine, beach life, shopping, eating, drinking and perhaps even sleeping at some point (on the flight back home)!
